1. Turn ON the ignition, leaving the engine OFF.
2. Attempt to communicate with the radio.

Does the scan tool communicate with the radio?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Turn the ignition switch on.
2. Disconnect the scan tool, if connected.
3. Test the E and C Data Line circuit for a short to ground or a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Control Module References for the applicable Diagnostic System Check

Go to Step 4

Test the E and C Data Line circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the Radio. Refer to Control Module References .
