1. Connect a scan tool.
2. Inspect for powertrain control module (PCM) DTCs.

Are any PCM DTCs set?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls - 2.5L (LB8) and 3.0L (L46)

Go to Step 2

Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Does the change oil indicator illuminate for approximately 6 seconds and then turn off?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls - 2.5L (LB8) and 3.0L (L46)

Go to Step 3

1. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle data link connector (DLC).
2. WOW the instrument cluster ON.
3. WOW the instrument cluster off.

Does the change oil indicator turn on and off?

System OK

Go to Step 4

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

System OK
