Remove the horn relay (Relay 15).

Do the horns stop sounding?

Using a scan tool, monitor the horn relay coil output of the body control module (BCM).

Is the horn relay output low?

  1. Disconnect the underhood accessory wiring junction block connector C2.
  2. Using the scan tool, monitor the horn relay coil output.

Is the horn relay output low?

--

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect connector C201.
  2. Using the scan tool, monitor the horn relay coil output.

Is the horn relay output low?

--

Go to Step 14

  1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) System. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the horn switch from the steering wheel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
  3. Disconnect the spring loaded terminal from the horn switch leading to connector C201.
  4. Using a test light probe between B+ and the spring loaded terminal cavity contact, leading towards connector C201.

Does the test light illuminate?

Repair a short to ground in circuit 28, between the horn switch and connector  C201.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Horns System Check

Replace the horn switch. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.

Disconnect the underhood accessory wiring junction block connector C3.

Do the horns stop sounding?

Replace the underhood accessory wiring junction block.

Is the repair complete?

Repair a short to B+ in circuit 29.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the underhood accessory wiring junction block connector C3.
  2. Using a test light, frontprobe between the horn relay terminal circuit 29 and ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

--

Go to Step 9

Replace the horn relay. Refer to Horn Relay Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect connector C1 from the body control module (BCM).
  3. Using a test light, backprobe between connector C1 cavity C6 and B+.

Does the test light illuminate?

--

Go to Step 15

  1. Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
  2. Perform the set up procedure for the Body Control Module. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Is the repair complete?

Repair a short to ground in circuit 28, between the underhood accessory wiring junction block connector C2 terminal F7 and body control module connector C1, terminal C6 or between underhood accessory wiring junction block connector C2, terminal F7 and inline connector C201 terminal A17.
