The remote keyless entry system performs the following functions:

    • Locking the vehicle doors
    • Unlocking the vehicle doors
    • Opening the rear compartment lid

The keyless entry system is equipped with an alarm feature that performs the following functions:

  1. Sounds the horn
  2. Illuminates the interior lights
  3. Flashes the headlamps

The keyless entry system operates on a radio frequency, subject to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules.

The keyless entry operating system complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules. The operation is subject the following conditions:

    • The device may not cause any harmful interference.
    • The device must accept any interference that is received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

Remote Control Door Lock Transmitter

The transmitter is a hand-held device that is powered by a 3 Volt lithium battery. The date is transmitted on an RF carrier frequency at 315 MHz. The 4 transmitter buttons control the following functions:

    • Lock (upper left)
    • Unlock (upper right)
    • Rear compartment (lower right)
    • Alarm (lower left)

The operating range of the transmitter is 1-9 m (3-29 ft). A decrease in range may occur periodically. The change in range is normal for any remote lock control system. If the transmitter does not work, or if you have to stand closer to the vehicle in order to operate the transmitter, perform the following procedure:

  1. Inspect the battery in order to determine if a replacement is needed.
  2. Inspect the distance in order to determine if you are too far away from the vehicle.
  3. You may need to stand closer to the vehicle in snowy or rainy conditions.

  4. Inspect the location in order to determine if any objects are blocking the signal.
  5. Take a few steps to the left or right, or hold the transmitter higher in the air.

Remote Control Door Lock Receiver

The remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) is located in the instrument panel. The RCDLR is powered by the vehicle battery through the instrument panel wiring harness. The RCDLR determines which command is being sent by the remote control door lock transmitter and sends the appropriate signal to the body control module (BCM).
