Radiator Grille Emblem/Nameplate Replacement GLX

Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 25070 Heat Gun

  1. Open the hood.

  2. Object Number: 514727  Size: SH
  3. Heat to remove the grille emblem using the J 25070 152 mm (6 inches) from surface.
  4. Apply heat using a circular motion for about 30 seconds.
  5. Remove the grille emblem using a plastic, flat-bladed tool.
  6. Remove all adhesive from grille using 3M™ Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk 3M™ P/N 07501 or equivalent.
  7. Clean the grille using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Apply emblem in an environment that is free from dust or other dirt that could come in contact with the sticky backing. This may cause improper adhesion.

  1. Clean the area where the emblems will be mounted.
  2. Heat the area using the J 25070 to a temperature of 27°-41° C (80°-105° F).
  3. Ensure that the temperature of the emblems is within 29°-32° C (85°-90° F). Place the emblem, with the adhesive side down, on a surface and use a heat gun to warm up.
  4. Remove the protective liner from the back of the emblem.

  5. Object Number: 514727  Size: SH
  6. Apply the body side emblem to the grille surface.
  7. Apply equal pressure along the emblem in order to uniformly bond the emblem to the body surface.
  8. Close the hood.

  3. Heat to remove the grille emblem using the J 25070 152 mm (6 inches) from surface.
  4. Apply heat using a circular motion for about 30 seconds.
  5. Remove the grille emblem using a plastic flat-bladed tool.
  6. Remove all adhesive from grille using 3M™ Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk 3M™ P/N 07501 or equivalent.
  7. Clean the grille using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) Naphtha.
