Removal Procedure
The exhaust resonator pipe is serviced by replacing the entire assembly.
Always replace the gasket at the rear flange when servicing the exhaust resonator
pipe. Never reinstall the original gasket.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Suitably support the exhaust system.
- Remove the exhaust resonator bolts.
- Remove the exhaust resonator gasket.
- Remove the exhaust resonator hangers.
- Remove the exhaust manifold pipe nuts and the
exhaust manifold springs.
- Remove the exhaust resonator pipe.
Installation Procedure
- Install the exhaust resonator pipe.
- Install the exhaust manifold springs and the exhaust manifold
pipe nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust resonator hangers.
- Inspect the exhaust resonator gasket. Replace
as needed.
- Install the exhaust resonator bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust resonator bolts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Remove the support from the exhaust system.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.
