The instrument panel (IP) courtesy and the door courtesy lamps stay on under the following conditions:

    • All of the doors are closed.
    • The IP dimmer switch is off.
    • None of the interior lighting modes are activated.

However, the inadvertent load (battery rundown) protection turns off the courtesy lights after 20 minutes.

Did you perform the Body Control module (BCM) Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is off.
  2. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  4. Connect the Tech 2 scan tool
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  6. Use the Tech 2 scan tool to monitor the status of BATT PWR 3.

Does the Tech 2 scan tool display that the status of BATT PWR 3 is greater than 9V?

  1. Disconnect then reconnect the BCM connector C2 and connector C3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is off.
  4. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  5. Observe the IP courtesy lamps and the door courtesy lamps.

Are the IP courtesy lamps and the door courtesy lamps off?

The malfunction is not present at this time. Refer to Interior Lights Circuit Description for more information regarding the operation of the courtesy lights.

  1. Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
  2. Perform the Setup New BCM procedure. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Has the repair been made?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall the connectors and the components that you removed.
