Removal Procedure
- Remove the driver's side instrument panel insulator. Refer to.
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement

- Remove the stoplamp switch. Refer to
Stop Lamp Switch Replacement
.
- Remove the wiring harness clips.
- Remove the brake pedal
push rod retaining clip at the brake pedal.
- Disconnect park brake indicator.
- Unclip BCM to gain access to brake pedal nut and bolt.
- Remove the brake pedal
nut (10) and the bolt (9).
- Remove the brake pedal (7) and the bushings (4), if necessary.
- Clean all of the components with a suitable solvent.
- Inspect all parts for evidence of wear. Repair or replace the
worn parts as needed.
Installation Procedure
- Install the brake pedal
(7) and the bushings (4), if removed.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install brake pedal
nut (10) and the bolt (9).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the master cylinder push rod retaining clip at the brake
pedal.
- Install the wiring harness clips.
- Install the stoplamp switch. Refer to
Stop Lamp Switch Replacement
.
- Install the instrument panel insulator. Refer to.
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
in Instrument Panel,
Gauges and Console.
- Adjust the stoplamp switch. Refer to
Stop Lamp Switch Adjustment
