Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 38778 Door Trim
Pad and Garnish Clip Remover
- Remove the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to
Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement
in Body
Rear End.
- Remove the nut from the
rear bumper fascia outer retainers.
- Remove the bolts in the rear compartment from the rear bumper
fascia outer retainers.
- Remove the bolts from the rear bumper fascia outer retainers.
- Remove the rear bumper fascia splash shield. Refer to
Rear Bumper Fascia Splash Shield Replacement
.
- Using the J 38778
remove the push-pin retainers from the
rear bumper fascia at the rear impact bar.
- Using the J 38778
remove the rear bumper fascia to the rear end panel push-pin retainers.
- Remove the rear bumper fascia from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear bumper
fascia to the vehicle.
- Install the rear bumper fascia to the rear end panel push-pin
retainers.
- Install the push-pin retainers to the rear bumper fascia at the
rear bumper impact bar.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the rear
bumper fascia outer retainer nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the rear bumper fascia outer retainer nuts to 6 N·m
(53 lb in).
- Install the bolts to the rear bumper fascia outer retainers.
Tighten
Tighten the rear bumper fascia outer retainer bolts to 10 N·m
(88 lb in).
- Install the rear bumper fascia outer retainer bolts in the rear
compartment.
Tighten
Tighten the rear bumper fascia outer retainer bolts in rear compartment
to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the rear bumper fascia splash shield. Refer to
Rear Bumper Fascia Splash Shield Replacement
.
- Install the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to
Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement
in Body Rear End.
