Removal Procedure

  1. Open the rear compartment.
  2. Place protective coverings over the adjacent body panels.

  3. Object Number: 324449  Size: SH
  4. Remove the electrical harness. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Wiring Harness Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the top end of the struts and rotate them down.

  6. Object Number: 324455  Size: SH
  7. Use a grease pencil to mark the location of the upper rear compartment lid hinge to the rear compartment lid.
  8. With the help of an assistant, remove the nuts from the rear compartment hinges.
  9. With the help of an assistant, remove the rear compartment lid.

Installation Procedure

  1. With the help of an assistant, place the rear compartment lid on the hinges. Position the lid to the alignment mark that was made with a grease pencil.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. With the help of an assistant, install the nuts to the rear compartment hinges.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear compartment lid hinge nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the top end of the rear compartment lid struts.

  6. Object Number: 324449  Size: SH
  7. Install the electrical harness. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Wiring Harness Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 318871  Size: SH
  9. Use an Allen wrench to adjust the rear compartment lid, as required. Use the height adjustment bumper at the front of the hinge to adjust the rear compartment lid to the proper fit.
  10. Remove the protective coverings.
  11. Close the rear compartment.
