Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover.

1. Open the rear compartment.



2. Remove the release actuator. Refer to Release Actuator Replacement .



3. Remove the nuts from the rear compartment lock cylinder release actuator studs.
4. Use the J 38778 in order to remove the push-in retainers from the latch.
5. Remove the rear compartment lid switch.

1. Align the rear compartment lock cylinder release actuator to the studs on the rear compartment lid.
2. Install the push-in retainers to the latch.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the nuts to the rear compartment lock cylinder release actuator studs.

Tighten
Tighten the rear compartment lock cylinder release actuator nuts to 10 N·m (88 lb in).




4. Install the release actuator. Refer to Release Actuator Replacement .
5. Close the rear compartment.
