J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover.

1. Remove the rear compartment convenience net. Refer to Compartment Convenience Net Replacement - Rear .
2. Remove the net retainers.
3. Use the J 38778 in order to remove the push-in retainers from the trim panels.
4. Remove the trim panels as necessary to access the lid lock.



5. Remove the bolt from the rear compartment lid lock striker in the rear compartment.
6. Remove the rear compartment lid lock striker bolt from under the rear bumper fascia above the impact bar to the body panel.
7. Remove the rear compartment lid lock striker from the rear compartment body panel.

1. Position the rear compartment lid lock striker in the rear compartment body panel.
2. Install the bolt to the center hole in the rear compartment lid lock striker under the rear bumper fascia above the impact bar to the rear body panel.
3. Install the bolt in the rear compartment lid lock striker in the rear compartment.
4. Partially tighten the bolts. Allow for adjustment of the rear compartment lid lock striker.
5. Close the rear compartment lid in order to set the adjustment of the rear compartment lid.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

6. Tighten the bolts to the lock striker in the rear compartment.

Tighten
Tighten the lock striker bolts to 16 N·m (11 lb ft).

7. Install the rear compartment trim.
8. Install the push-in retainers in the trim panels.
9. Install the net retainers.
10. Install the rear compartment convenience net. Refer to Compartment Convenience Net Replacement - Rear .
11. Close the rear compartment.
