EXHAUST MOAN/BOOM (INSTALL NEW MUFFLER HANGER ASSY.)

SUBJECT: EXHAUST MOAN/BOOM (INSTALL NEW MUFFLER HANGER ASSEMBLY)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992-93 "B" MODEL AND 1991-93 CADILLAC "D" MODEL

CONDITION:

Some 1992-93 B-cars and 1991-1993 D car's may exhibit a slight exhaust moan/boom condition, most apparent during light acceleration from 45-55 mph with transmission in fourth gear and torque converter clutch (TCC) applied.

CAUSE:

Exhaust generated pulsations transmitted into vehicle underbody through the exhaust system hangers.

CORRECTION:

Replace existing muffler hanger assembly with new assembly P/N 10228003. Follow applicable Service Manual Procedures and those noted in illustration to insure proper installation and system alignment. Torque hanger/frame bolt to 24 N.m (1 7 lb.ft.) and hanger clamp to 33 N.m (24 lb.ft.).
