CRUISE CONTROL INOPERATIVE POSSIBLE CAUSES & CORRECTIONS

CONDITION NO. 1

INOPERATIVE CRUISE CONTROL MAY RESULT IF THE 8 VOLT LINE TO THE SPEED SENSOR IS PINCHED AT THE STEERING COLUMN BRACKET CAUSING A SHORT TO GROUND. THIS CONDITION MAY PRODUCE THE FOLLOWING TROUBLE CODES (30,33,34,36) AND BRING DOWN OTHER 5 VOLT OUTPUT SIGNALS. REPAIR THE PINCHED WIRES AT THE STEERING COLUMN BRACKET TO CORRECT THE CONDITION.

CARLINES AFFECTED: 1981 DIESEL EQUIPPED "E" & "K" MODEL CADILLACE

INOPERATIVE CRUISE CONTROL ON SOME "E" AND "K" DIESEL EQUIPPED VEHICLES WITH DIGITAL DISPLAY MIGHT BE CAUSED BY IMPROPER WIRING AT THE BUFFER AMPLIFIER. TO CORRECT, REMOVE WIRE FROM CAVITY B, CUT OFF TERMINAL AND SPLICE INTO THE WIRE IN CAVITY A. LEAVE CAVITY B OPEN. ALSO, VERIFY PEROPER ORIENTATION OF WIRES IN CAVITIES C,D, AND E. REFER TO FIG. L.
