VINYL TOP TRIM RETAINER SERVICE PROCEDURE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1982-3 OLDSMOBILE, BUICK AND CADILLAC 'B' AND 'C' 69, 4CX37 STYLES THE VINYL TOP TRIM RETAINER AT THE SUNROOF OPENING ON THE SUBJECT STYLES CAN BE REMOVED AND REPLACED BY FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED BELOW. REMOVAL : 1. REMOVE THE SUNROOF HOUSING (PROCEDURE IN SECTION 8 OF THE FISHER BODY SERVICE MANUAL). 2. USING 1/8 INCH DRILL WITH STOP (AS SHOWN IN ILLUSTRATION), REMOVE THE TWENTY FOUR (24) RETAINER RIVETS. 3. REMOVE THE RETAINER. INSTALLATION : 1. APPLY A PIECE OF SATURATED URETHANE TAPE 1/2 " WIDE X 1/4 " THICK (SURE SEAL RFT 1/4 INCH OR EQUIVALENT) AROUND THE INNER EDGE OF THE RETAINER, AS SHOWN IN SECTION A-A OF THE ILLUSTRATION. 2. INSTALL THE RETAINER WITH 24 LARGE_HEADED STEEL RIVETS 1/8 " DIAMETER X 1/4 " LONG (USM BLIND RIVET 5D42BSLF OR EQUIVALENT) 3. INSTALL THE SUNROOF HOUSING. **SEE ILLUSTRATION IN BULLETIN**
