1987 Electra/Park Avenue, LeSabre, Ninety-Eight, Delta 88, Bonneville
General Motors of Canada has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on some 1987 Electra/Park Avenue, LeSabre, Ninety- Eight, Delta 88, Bonneville. These vehicles have in-line fusible links located in the area of the plastic windshield washer bottle bracket. Under a high resistance load, the in-line fusible link may melt down, and ignite the windshield washer bottle bracket resulting in an engine compartment fire without prior warning.
To prevent this condition, Dealers are required to replace windshield washer bottle bracket on suspect vehicles, per the Vehicles Involved and Technical Procedure sections of this bulletin.

All affected vehicles have been identified by the VIN listing provided to involved Dealers with this bulletin. Any Dealer not receiving a listing was not shipped any of the affected vehicles.
Dealers are to service all vehicles subject to this campaign at no charge to owners, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership from this time forward.
Whenever a vehicle subject to this campaign is taken into your new or used vehicle inventory, or it is in your Dealership for service in the future, you should take the steps necessary to be sure the campaign correction has been made before reselling or releasing the vehicle.
Owners of vehicles recently sold from your new vehicle inventory are to be contacted by the Dealer, and arrangements made to make the required modification according to instructions contained in this bulletin.
Refer to Section 4 of the Service Policies and Procedures Manual for the detailed procedure on handling Product Campaigns. Dealers are requested to complete the campaign on all transfers as soon as possible.
All owners of record at the time of campaign release are shown on the attached computer listing and have been notified by first class mail from General Motors. The listings provided are for campaign activity only and should not be used for any other purpose.

Credit for the campaign work performed will be paid upon receipt of a properly completed campaign claim card, RAPID terminal or DCS transmission in accordance with the following:

2A Replace Windshield Washer .4 Bottle Bracket
Time allowance includes O.1 hour for Dealer administrative detail associated with this campaign. Parts credit will be based on Dealer net plus 30% to cover parts handling.
1. Open vehicle hood, cover right front fender, and disconnect positive battery cable at battery.
2. Remove engine compartment right front sight shield. Disconnect positive and negative junction block leads at right wheelhouse on windshield washer bottle bracket studs.
3. Remove two screws securing washer fluid bottle to bracket. Set washer fluid bottle off of bracket leaving washer pump and fluid line attached.
4. Remove two screws holding windshield washer bottle bracket to right wheelhouse.
5. Install new windshield washer bottle bracket, Part Number 25533178. Torque bracket retaining screws to 5-7 N.m (4-5 lb. ft.).
6. Reverse steps 1 to 3 to reassemble. Torque junction block negative nut to 6-9 N.m (5-7 lb. ft.), and positive nut to 14-20 N.m (10-15 lb.. ft.).
Clean surface of radiator upper mounting panel and apply a Campaign Identification Label. Make sure the correct campaign number is inserted on the label. This will indicate that the campaign has been completed.
