Some of the above listed vehicles may experience a condition where the sunroof's air deflector may get caught between the roof panel and carrier, when the sunroof is closing.
To repair this condition, the following procedure should be used which includes installing bumper stops (Part Number 20349879) on the air deflector guides:
1. Open sunroof to the full-open position.
2. Locate point to be drilled on the air deflector guide. (See illustration, View A).
3. With a center punch and hammer, mark the air deflector guide.
4. Drill a 3/16" hole at mark.
5. With a formed wire (See illustrations, View B and C); insert the rubber bumper into the air deflector guide.
6. Pull the bumper through the guide with long-nose pliers.
7. Remove the wire from bumper.
8. Adjust the air deflector actuator rod height so it is centered on the carrier recess.
9. Repeat procedure for opposite side.
Use the most applicable labour operation from the Canadian Labour Time Guide and claim 0.4 hours.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
