Fuel Tank Drain Hose
Caution: Never drain or store fuel in an open container. Always use an approved
fuel storage container in order to reduce the chance of fire or explosion.
Caution: Place a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby before performing
any on-vehicle service procedures. Failure to follow these precautions
may result in personal injury.
- Remove the fuel fill cap.
- Insert the
J 45004
into the fuel tank through the fuel tank fill pipe until the hose reaches the bottom of the fuel tank.
- Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel from the fuel tank as possible.
- Remove the
J 45004
from the fuel tank fill pipe.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Loosen the fuel tank fill hose clamp (1) at the fuel tank.
- Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister vent rear pipe quick connect fitting (4) from the recirculation line on the fuel fill pipe (3). Refer to

- Separate the fuel tank fill hose from the fuel tank.
- Insert the
J 45004
into the fuel tank through the fuel tank opening.
- Use the hand or air operated pump device again, drain as much fuel from the fuel tank as possible.
