Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement LLT
Removal Procedure
- Remove the fuel injection sight shield. Refer to
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.
- Remove the high pressure pump shield. Refer to
Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.
- Relieve the low side fuel system pressure. Refer to
Fuel Pressure Relief.
- Disconnect the fuel feed line quick connect fitting from the fuel feed pipe (2). Refer to
Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
- Loosen the fuel feed pipe fitting to the high pressure fuel pump.
- Remove the fuel feed pipe bolts (4) from the cylinder heads.
- Remove the fuel feed pipe from the engine and high pressure fuel pump.
Installation Procedure
- Ensure that the fuel feed pipe and fuel pump fittings are clean and dry prior to assembly.
- Lubricate the pipes with silicon free engine oil GM P/N 12345610 (Canadian P/N 993193) or equivalent.
- Position the fuel feed pipe (2) to the cylinder head and high pressure fuel pump.
- Install the fuel feed pipe fitting to the high pressure fuel pump hand tight.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the fuel feed pipe bolts (4).
5.1. | Tighten the bolts to
50 N·m (37 lb ft). |
5.2. | Tighten the fitting to
28 N·m (20 lb ft). |
- Connect the fuel feed line quick connect fitting to the fuel feed pipe (2). Refer to
Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.
Note: If a fuel leak accrues at the high pressure fuel pump, the pump will need to be replaced.
- Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
7.1. | Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds. |
7.2. | Turn OFF the ignition, for 10 seconds. |
7.3. | Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. |
7.4. | Inspect for fuel leaks. |
- Install the low side fuel pressure service port cap.
- Install the fuel tank cap.
- Install the high pressure pump shield. Refer to
Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.
- Install the fuel injection sight shield. Refer to
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.
