Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect all the electrical connectors at the Ignition Control (IC) Module.
  2. Note position of spark plug wires for installation and disconnect the spark plug wires from ignition coils.
  3. Remove the screws securing coil assemblies to IC Module.
  4. Disconnect the coils from IC Module.
  5. Remove the fasteners securing IC Module assembly to engine.
  6. Remove the IC Module from the bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the Ignition Control (IC) Module on the bracket.
  2. Install the coils to IC Module.
  3. Reinstall the fasteners securing IC Module assembly to engine.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Reinstall the screws.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 4-5 N·m (40 lb in).

  7. Connect the spark plug wires as noted during removal.
  8. Connect the electrical connectors to the IC Module.
