Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Clean all dirt and foreign material from the brake hose and the
brake pipe fittings.
Important: Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake pipe fitting end in
order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Remove the brake pipe fitting (1) from the brake hose (3).
- Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the brake hose retainer
(4) from the brake hose (3).
- Remove the brake hose (3) from the brake hose bracket (2).
- Remove the brake hose
bolt (4) from the brake caliper (2).
- Remove the brake hose (5) from the brake caliper (2).
- Remove and discard the two copper brake hose gaskets (3). These
gaskets may be stuck to the brake caliper and/or the brake hose end.
- Install a rubber plug into the brake hose bolt hole of the brake
caliper in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
Installation Procedure
- Remove the rubber plug from the brake hose bolt hole of the brake
caliper.
Important: Install NEW copper brake hose gaskets (3).
- Assemble the brake hose bolt (4) and the NEW copper brake hose gaskets
(3) to the brake hose (5).
- Install the brake hose bolt (4) to the brake caliper (2).
Tighten
Tighten the brake hose bolt to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).
Notice: Make sure the brake hose is not twisted or kinked after
installation. Damage to the hose could result.
Important: Use the stripe on the brake hose in order to align the brake hose with
the notch in the brake hose bracket.
- Install the brake hose (3) to the brake hose bracket (2).
- Install the brake hose retainer (4) to the brake hose (3).
- Remove the rubber cap or plug from the exposed brake pipe fitting
end.
- Install the brake pipe fitting (1) to the brake hose (3).
Tighten
Tighten the brake pipe fitting to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).
Caution: Do not move the vehicle until a firm brake pedal is obtained. Air in
the brake system can cause the loss of brakes with possible personal injury.
- Bleed the brake caliper at the brake caliper bleeder screw. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
.
- Lower the vehicle.
