Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement Domestic
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the rear rotor. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Remove and DISCARD the
wheel bearing/hub bolts.
- Remove the wheel bearing/hub.
- Remove the wheel speed
sensor electrical connector (2).
Installation Procedure
- Install the wheel speed
sensor electrical connector (2).
- Install the wheel bearing/hub.
Caution: These fasteners MUST be replaced with new fasteners anytime they become
loose or are removed. Failure to replace these fasteners after they become
loose or are removed may cause loss of vehicle control and personal
injury.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the NEW wheel bearing/hub bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the NEW wheel bearing/hub bolts to 85 N·m (63 lb ft).
- Install the rear rotor. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement Export
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the brake caliper bracket with the brake caliper. Refer
to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
in
Disc Brakes.
- Remove the brake rotor.
- Loosen the park brake cable bracket bolts. Do NOT remove the park
brake cable bracket bolts. Refer to
Park Brake Cable Mounting Bracket Replacement
in Park Brake.
- Remove and DISCARD the
wheel bearing/hub bolts.
- Remove the wheel bearing/hub.
- Remove the wheel speed
sensor electrical connector (2).
Installation Procedure
- Install the wheel speed

- Install the brake rotor.
- Install the brake caliper bracket with the brake caliper. Refer
to
Front Brake Rotor Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
