Tools Required

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the left front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
3. Remove the left engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
4. Remove the left stabilizer shaft link from the left lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement in Front Suspension.
5. Remove the left tie rod end from the left steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Power Steering System.
6. Remove the left lower ball joint from the left steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement in Front Suspension.
7. Disconnect the left drive axle from the transaxle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
8. Secure the left drive axle to the left steering knuckle and strut.



9. Use J 23129 and J 6125-1B in order to remove the axle oil seal (409) from the case cover (401).

1. Use a light wipe of transaxle fluid to lubricate the seal lip.



2. Use the J 34115 to install a new seal.
3. Install the J 37292-B in the seal.

Important: Carefully guide the axle shaft past the lip seal. Do NOT allow the shaft splines to contact any portion of the seal lip surface or damage to the seal will occur.

4. Connect the left drive axle to the transaxle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
5. Remove the J 37292-B .
6. Install the left lower ball joint to the left steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement in Front Suspension.
7. Install the left tie rod end to the left steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Power Steering System.
8. Install the left stabilizer shaft link to the left lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement in Front Suspension.
9. Install the left engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
10. Install the left front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Adjust the fluid level. Refer to the following information:

•	Transmission Fluid Check

•	Approximate Fluid Capacities in Maintenance and Lubrication

13. Inspect for fluid leaks.
