DEFINITION: The dome lamps do not activate when the following conditions exist:

    • The interior courtesy lights are on.
    • The dome lamp switches are on.
    • The interior lamps override switch is on (the interior courtesy lights are enabled)

Was the lighting systems diagnostic system check performed?

Operate all of the dome lamps.

Do all of the dome lamps work properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

Inspect the filament of the inoperative dome lamps bulb(s).

Is there any bulb filament open?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 4

Test for an open in the supply voltage circuit to the inoperative dome lamp.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

Test for an open in the ground(s) circuit to the inoperative dome lamp.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

Replace the inoperative dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 8

Replace the dome lamp bulb(s).

Did you complete the repair?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall any connectors or components that were removed.
  3. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
