Removal Procedure

The body ventilation system consists of a fresh air intake located at the front plenum chamber. Air enters the front plenum chamber through an air inlet grille. The air passes through the plenum chamber in order to heat the vent A/C module. When the ventilation controls are operated, air flows past the valves and into the body from outlets in the instrument panel. The air then passes through the body, into the rear compartment to the rear quarters and leaves the body passing through the pressure relief valves in the right quarter panel.

  1. Remove the windshield wiper arm and blade. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement .
  2. Remove the screws from the air inlet grille to the body.
  3. Remove the air inlet grille from the body.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the air inlet grille to the body.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the screws to the air inlet grille.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the windshield wiper arm and blade. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement .
