Verify the engine coolant temperature gauge is inaccurate or inoperative.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn ON the ignition switch.
  2. Connect a scan tool.
  3. Using a scan tool sweep the engine coolant temperature gauge.

Does the engine coolant temperature move from 160 to 260 and back to 160 when you sweep this gauge up and down?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls - 3.0L

Go to Step 4

Important: Perform the set up procedure for the replacement IPC.

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement and the set up procedure?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
