Removal Procedure
- Remove the front door opening sill plates. Refer to
Door Sill Plate Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Pull the front door opening weather-strip from the front door pinch-weld flange.
- Clean all adhesive from the pinch-weld flange.
Installation Procedure
Important: A mastic/sealer/glue is inside the new front door opening weather-strip. If you are using a new front door opening weather-strip, do not use any weather-strip adhesive.
- Install the front door opening weather-strip to the front door pinch-weld flange.
- Align the appropriate dot to the starting point of the front door opening weather-strip at the upper rear corner of the front door pinch-weld flange.
• | Use the weather-strip with a green dot for the right side. |
• | Use the weather-strip with a red dot for the left side. |
- Roll the remainder of the of the front door opening weather-strip onto the flange.
• | Fully seat the weather-strip into the corners of the front door opening. |
• | Do not stretch the front door opening weather-strip during installation. |
- Join the loose end of the front door opening weather-strip to the seated end.
- Use the end of the tear strip at the front door opening weather-strip in order to pull the weather-strip to the top of the instrument panel.
- Use the end of the tear strip at the front door opening weather-strip in order to pull the weather-strip to the bottom of the instrument panel.
Important: Removing the tear strip should pull the inner lip of the front door opening weather-strip out over the trim. Determine if spooning of the front door opening weather-strip is needed in order to complete the installation.
- Cut the tear strip for removal.
- If using the old weather-strip, hand spoon the lip over the interior trim.
- Inspect the front door opening weather-strip for creases or wrinkles.
- Install the front door opening sill plates. Refer to
Door Sill Plate Replacement
in Interior Trim.
