Removal Procedure

    Important: This procedure covers the removal and installation of the front and the rear door strikers.

    It will be necessary to remove the following trim when replacing the front or the rear striker.

    Important: When the striker bolts have been removed, the striker anchor plate will slip down in the door pillar or quarter panel and the trim will need to be removed to gain access.

  1. Remove the rear quarter lower trim. Refer to Rear Quarter Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  2. Remove the lower center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  3. Mark the position of the striker with a grease pencil.
  4. Remove the screws from the door striker.
  5. Remove the striker (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the striker (2) to the door opening.
  2. Align the striker to the alignment marks.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the screws to the striker.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Adjust door striker. Refer to Door Lock Striker Adjustment .
  6. Inspect the door for proper operation.
  7. Install the front or the rear trim if removed.
  8. Install the rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  9. Install the lower center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
