Removal Procedure
- Apply masking tape to the door frame and applique.
- Remove the rear door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
- Lower the window to the full down position.
- Remove the outer belt sealing strip screw.
- Release the outer belt sealing strip clip, by inserting a suitable flat-bladed tool to the rear edge and lift upward.
- Remove the outer belt sealing strip from the door.
Notice: To avoid paint damage, protect the area surrounding the part which you are removing or installing.
Important: Lift upward on the sealing strip at the front edge of the rear door stationary window to prevent damage to the sealing strip.
Installation Procedure
- Install the outer belt sealing strip to the door.
- Install the outer belt sealing strip screw.
- Remove the masking tape.
- Inspect the window for proper operation.
- Install the rear door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
Insert the retaining clip for the outer belt sealing strip into the rear hole of the door and push down firmly to lock in place.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
