Diagnostic Instructions
DTC Descriptor
DTC C0131 00: ABS Pressure Circuit
Circuit/System Description
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) uses input from the brake pedal position sensor for more accurate control during a Vehicle Stability Enhancement System (VSES) event.
Conditions for Running the DTC
• | System Voltage is above 9 volts. |
• | The vehicle speed is greater than 40 km/h (24 mph). |
Conditions for Setting the DTC
• | Voltage at the pressure sensor signal output to the EBCM falls outside the 0.25-4.75 voltage range for more than 100 milliseconds. |
• | Brake signal does not correlate to pressure signal. |
• | Signal is erratic and changes faster than physically allowed. |
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
If equipped, the following actions occur:
• | The EBCM disables the ABS/traction control system (TCS)/VSES for the duration of the ignition cycle. |
• | The Traction Control indicator illuminates. |
• | The driver information center (DIC) displays Service Stability System. |
• | The ABS indicator illuminates. |
• | The stability OFF indicator turns does not illuminate. |
• | The red BRAKE warning indicator could illuminate. |
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
• | The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present. |
• | The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles. |

Circuit/System Verification
- Verify that DTC C0277, C0297, or B3445 is not set.
- Ignition ON, observe the scan tool BPP parameter while applying and releasing the brake pedal. The reading should change between Applied and Released.
⇒ | If the parameter does not change between applied and release, replace the BPMV and verify DTC does not reset. If DTC reset, replace the EBCM. |
