EBCM Speed Signal Circuit | C0236 00 | C0236 00 | -- | -- |
The RPM signal circuit provides the EBCM with an indication of engine RPM for the TCS to maintain optimum traction.
• | Engine Running. |
• | No under voltage condition is present. |
An open/high resistance, or short to ground on the engine speed signal circuit.
• | The EBCM disables the traction control system (TCS) for the duration of the ignition. |
• | A DIC message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed. |
• | The condition for the DTC is no longer present in the last 100 ignition cycles and no DTCS have been detected. |
• | The condition for the DTC is no longer present. |

Control Module References for scan tool information
Engine Running, with the scan tool observe the EBCM Engine Speed parameter and the ECM/PCM Engine Speed parameter. The reading should increase and decrease when pressing and releasing the accelerator pedal.
• | Signal circuit terminal 7 (JL4) |
• | Signal circuit terminal 11 (-JL4) |
⇒ | If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM/PCM. |
