The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment that the passenger seatbelt light display will come on when nobody is sitting in the front passenger seat. The Passenger Presence suppression system may not have Auto-Initialized recently. This means the PPS system does not
recognize the seat as being "empty"; therefore it will turn the passenger seatbelt light on. The system works as intended when someone, whether a child or adult, occupies the seat.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If there are no specific DTCs set related to this issue, please refer to Doc ID# 1465479 "Passenger Presence System Rezeroing". By rezeroing the Passenger Presence suppression system it will now be calibrated to an empty seat in the vehicle. If the light
continues to stay on please refer to "Seat Belt Indicator Circuit Malfunction - Passenger" in SI-2000.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
