Removal Procedure
- Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement.
- Remove the front door water deflector. Refer to
Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement.
Note: The outside handles have adjustable outside handle lock rods. This allows for adjustment of the amount of travel needed in order to operate the outside handle.
When servicing a vehicle with adjustable outside handle
lock rods, remove all free play between the outside handle and the lock. Also, do not operate the outside handle before these connections are made.
- Open the outside handle rod to lock clip located on the door lock.
The outside handle rods should be loose from the lock.
- Remove the lock cylinder rod from the outside door handle. Refer to
Door Lock Cylinder Replacement.
Note: Do not attempt repairs in order to correct lock discrepancies. Replace the lock.
- Remove the screws from door lock.
- Remove the door lock and cable through the access hole in the door inner panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the lock.
- Remove the lock and cable from the door.
Installation Procedure
- Install the lock and cable to the door.
- Connect the electrical connector to the lock.
- Install the lock and cable through the access hole in the door inner panel.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the screws to the door lock.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the lock cylinder rod to the outside door handle. Refer to
Door Lock Cylinder Replacement.
- Install the outside handle rod into the clip.
- Close the clip over the outside handle rod.
- Install the inside door handle.
- Inspect the door for proper operation.
- Install the front door water deflector. Refer to
Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement.
- Install the front door trim panel. Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement.
