Makes 🢒 Buick 🢒 2009 🢒 LaCrosse 🢒 Steering 🢒 Steering Wheel and Column 🢒 Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to SIR Warning in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.

    2. Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.

  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  3. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
  4. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Replacement.
  5. Remove the gap hider. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement.

  6. Remove the tilt lever (1).

    7. Object Number: 1702768 Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the closeout trim cover from the lower steering column trim cover.
  8. Gently unsnap the lower trim cover from the upper trim cover.

    9. Object Number: 375310 Size: SH
  9. Lift the upper trim cover to gain access to the lock cylinder access hole.
  10. Using a bent tip awl, insert the tip into the access hole in the ignition lock cylinder.

    11. Object Number: 375316 Size: SH
  11. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the START position.
  12. Using the bent tip awl push down on the retaining pin of the ignition lock cylinder.
  13. Release the ignition lock cylinder to the RUN position and remove the lock cylinder.

  14. Remove the upper steering column trim cover.
  15. If necessary, remove the closeout trim cover from the upper trim cover.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1702769 Size: SH
  1. If necessary, install the upper steering column trim cover to the closeout trim cover.
  2. Install the upper trim cover to the steering column.
  3. Install the ignition lock cylinder.

    4. Object Number: 1702768 Size: SH
  4. Install the lower trim cover and ensure that the tabs engage with the tabs on the upper trim cover.

    5. Snap the tabs together.

  5. Connect the lower steering column trim cover to the closeout trim cover.

    6. Object Number: 603840 Size: SH
  6. Install the tilt lever (1).
  7. Install the gap hider. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement.
  8. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Replacement.
  9. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
  10. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
