BODY MOUNT USAGE CORRECT MOUNT LOCATION

Models Affected: 1984 LeSabres, Electras and Regals

Body mounts are being incorrectly installed on some vehicles after they are received at the Dealership. This may be due to a misunderstanding as to the proper body mount usage at each frame location. The purpose of this bulletin is to describe the specified body mount usage for LeSabre, Electra and Regal.

1. All upper mount and a lower mount. 2. An upper mount and a lower washer. 3. An upper mount only. 4. No mounts present.

Attached are illustrations indicating the possible body mount locations and tables indicating the type of the body mounts for each location.

Engine type, suspension type and the style of the vehicle, which determine the type of body mount and location required, are also included in the tables. Washers are indicated with an asterisk.

The tables and illustrations should be consulted before carrying out any body mount work. Similar tables for the past model years can be found in the Parts Catalogue in Group 9.023.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
