SERVICE GUILD: HARD OR HARSH RIDE TIRE PRESSURE CHANGE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1988 LESABRE

NOTICE: This bulletin is being reissued to eliminate the illustration that was printed in error on 88-3-3. Please discard 88-3-3 and replace it with this one.

If an owner of a 1988 LeSabre with base P205/7514 tires expresses a concern of ride harshness or lack of ride comfort due to suspension hardness, which cannot be corrected with normal service procedures; the cold tire pressure may be lowered to 30 psi (210 kpa) from the tire placard recommended 35 psi (240 kpa) pressure. The dealer is to inform the owner that 30 psi is recommended for improved ride and is adequate to meet all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle standards, including wear and GVMR loading. The owners manual cautions on high speed applications still applies.

This bulletin applies only to the base LeSabre P205/7514 tire which is the only tire using 35 psi. Both the 15" and 16" tires use 30 psi as recommended tire placard pressure.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
