HEADLINER LOOSE AT REAR REAR WINDOW AREA)
Some LeSabres may exhibit a condition of the headliner losing retention to roof underside at the rear window area. This condition may be caused by one or more of the three (3) hook fasteners losing retention from the roof crossbow (box section) at the rear window area (See Illustration, Figure 1).
1. Remove headliner assembly per Body Service Manual, Section 8C.
2. Prepare a drill using a 1/8" drill bit with a stop spacer over the bit allowing only 1/4" of the bit to be exposed (to ensure the bit doesn't contact the roof underside).
3. Remove hook portion of fastener (which will be attached to pile portion) from headliner.
4. Reinstall hook fastener (3) (push in) to roof crossbow.
5. Drill through center of each fastener through the roof crossbow.
6. Install 1/8" X 7/16" self threading screw through each fastener per illustration.
7. Reinstall headliner.
Use the most applicable labour operation from the Canadian Labour Time Guide and claim 0.1 hour additional to headliner R & R time.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
