METALLIC RATTLE REAR OF VEH. INSTALL NEW HEAT SHIELD BUMPER

SUBJECT: EXHAUST MUFFLER HEAT SHIELD RATTLE (NEW SERVICE PART)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1992 LESABRE (Start of Production - NH442920) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONDITION:

---------- Owners of some 1992 LeSabres may comment that they hear a metallic rattle at the rear of the vehicle when the deck lid is closed.

CORRECTION:

----------- A new heat shield bumper has been released for service. (Part No. 25610777)

PARTS STATEMENT:

Parts are expected to be available on January 13, 1992. In case of limited inventory, parts will be placed on 400 control to waive VIP surcharges. Only verifiable emergency VIP orders will be accepted. SPO will make every effort to obtain parts. However, the part will be shipped premium transportation at dealer's expense and all other order types will be placed on backorder until the 400 control is removed.

PROCEDURE:

---------- 1. Attach the rubber bumpers between the heat shield and the underbody at the locations shown in Figure 1.

2. Pulling down on the rear of the heat shield will provide enough clearance to adhere the bumpers to the floor pan. Check to be sure the shield contacts the bumpers when the shield is released.
