DOOR MOUNTED SPEAKER BUZZ (INSTALL NEW SOUND DEADENER)

SUBJECT: DOOR MOUNTED SPEAKER BUZZ (INSTALL NEW SOUND DEADENER - PN 12536298)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992-93 "C/H" MODELS

CONDITION:

--------- Some 1992-93 C/H models with the six speaker sound system may make a buzzing or rattling noise coming from the speaker(s) mounted in the lower front doors. This noise will most likely occur on AM talk shows or at higher levels of bass when listening to music.

CORRECTION:

---------- Correct this condition as follows:

1. Remove the door trim pad using the applicable Service Manual procedure.

2. Remove the speaker/housing assembly.

3. Apply the foam sound deadener part number 12536298 to the pocket in the door water deflector directly behind where the speaker/ housing assembly mounts. (See illustration).

4. Reinstall the speaker/housing assembly and assure the noise is corrected.

5. Reinstall the door trim pad.

6. Duplicate this procedure on the other front door to assure proper speaker balance.

For vehicles repaired under warranty use:

Labour Time: 0.9 hr. (Buick) 0.6 hr. (Oldsmobile) (include - Install foam deadener on both front doors)
