Intake Manifold Installation Upper


    Object Number: 42225  Size: SH
  1. Install the upper intake manifold. Make sure to install the two hidden bolts in the lower intake manifold.

  2. Object Number: 49828  Size: SH
  3. Install the upper intake manifold bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts in sequence to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the throttle body.
  6. Install the cable bracket to the intake manifold.
  7. Install the fuel rail.
  8. Install the ignition wires to the fuel rail.

  9. Object Number: 35834  Size: SH
  10. Install the spark plug wires on the right side of the engine.

Intake Manifold Installation Lower


    Object Number: 44774  Size: SH
  1. Install the lower intake manifold gasket.
  2. Install the lower intake manifold.
  3. Apply Threadlocker 272 GM P/N 12345493 to the bolt threads.
  4. Install the lower intake manifold bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts in sequence to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Make sure to install the two hidden bolts.
  7. Install the EGR outlet pipe to the intake manifold.
  8. Install the EGR outlet pipe bolt.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the EGR outlet pipe bolt to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).
