FUEL GAUGE REMAINS ON 'FULL' TOO LONG (FLASH WITH UPDATED

SUBJECT: FUEL GAUGE REMAINS ON "FULL" TOO LONG (FLASH WITH UPDATED POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) CALIBRATION)

MODELS: 1997 BUICK LESABRE 1997 OLDSMOBILE EIGHTY EIGHT 1997 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE WITH 3.8L ENGINE (VIN K - RPO L36)

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE FUEL GAUGE REMAINS ON "FULL" TOO LONG. THE VEHICLE MAY BE DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES BEFORE MOVEMENT BEGINS.

CAUSE:

UPDATE FUEL SENDER INFORMATION CALCULATION MAY BE TOO SLOW.

CORRECTION:

FLASH WITH UPDATED POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) CALIBRATION.

IMPORTANT:

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ORDER THE CALIBRATIONS FROM GMSPO. THE CALIBRATIONS ARE PROGRAMMED INTO THE VEHICLE'S PCM VIA A TECHLINE TOOL DEVICE.

USING THE TABLE BELOW, DETERMINE THE CALIBRATION P/N NEEDED FOR YOUR VEHICLE APPLICATION. ENTER THE SERVICE PROGRAMMING SYSTEM (SPS) ON THE TECHLINE TERMINAL. THE MOST UP TO DATE CALIBRATION P/N SHOULD BE IN THE SYSTEM. CONTINUE WITH THE PROGRAMMING PROCESS BY SELECTING PROGRAM.
