J 34730-1A Fuel Pressure
Gauge
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
Notice: Turn off the ignition key when disconnecting or reconnecting battery
power in order to prevent system damage.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid possible fuel discharge
if an accidental attempt is made to start the engine. Refer to
Battery Cable
in Engine Electrical.
- Loosen the fuel filler cap to relieve fuel tank vapor pressure.
- Remove the fuel injector
sight shield. Refer to
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement
in
Engine Mechanical.
- Remove the fuel pressure
connection.
- Wrap a shop towel around the fuel pressure connection while connecting
the fuel pressure gauge in order to avoid spillage.
- Connect the fuel pressure gauge J 34730-1A
to the fuel pressure connection cap.
- Install the bleed hose into an approved container and open the
valve to bleed the system pressure. The fuel connections are now safe for
servicing.
- Drain any fuel remaining in the fuel pressure gauge into an approved
container.
