  1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  2. Disconnect the body control module (MALL) connector C2.
  3. Measure the resistance from connector C2 terminal D2 to ground.

Is the measured resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Inspect the MALL module connector C2 for proper terminal contact

Is the contact OK?

Replace the MALL module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm, Lock, and Lighting Module Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Is the vehicle equipped with keyless entry?

Does the keyless entry work?

Inspect CKT 653 (DK BLU/WHT) for a short to ground.

Is the circuit OK?

  1. Disconnect the remote function actuator (RFA) module.
  2. Measure the resistance from terminal E9 (harness side) to ground.

Is the measured resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Repair the short to ground in CKT 653 (DK BLU/WHT). Refer to Repairing Damaged Wire Insulation in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the RFA module connector for proper terminal contact.

Is the contact OK?

Replace the RFA module. Refer to Remote Function Actuator Replacement in Keyless Entry.

Inspect CKT 80 (LT GRN) for a short to ground.

Is the wiring OK?

Repair the short to ground in CKT 80 (LT GRN). Refer to Repairing Damaged Wire Insulation in Wiring Systems.

Is the replacement complete?

Inspect the key in ignition switch for a short to ground.
