Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 179039  Size: SH
  1. Remove the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor electrical connector (1) from the IAT sensor (2).

  2. Object Number: 210987  Size: SH
  3. Remove the air cleaner intake air duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement

  4. Object Number: 180140  Size: SH
  5. Remove the snap ring (3) and air inlet screen (2) from the throttle body (1).
  6. Inspect the throttle body bore and throttle valve plate for deposit is necessary to open the throttle valve to inspect all surfaces.
  7. Notice: Do not use any solvent that contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). This solvent may damage fuel system components.

  8. Clean the throttle body bore and throttle valve plate using a clean shop towel with GM Top Engine Cleaner, P/N 1052626 or AC-Delco Carburetor Tune-Up Conditioner, P/N X66-P, or equivalent product.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the air inlet screen (2) and the snap ring (3) in to the throttle body (1).

  2. Object Number: 210987  Size: SH
  3. Install the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the air intake tube clamp to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the IAT sensor electrical connector (1) to the IAT sensor (2).
