Conditions for Setting the DTC

A vehicle speed signal error occurs when the Control Module detects 5 or more transitions in the lateral accelerator switch input after 20 or more seconds without a vehicle speed input. If a fault is detected, the system will set error code 34 and activate the error lamp.

Actions Taken when the DTC Sets

  1. Record vehicle speed signal error.
  2. Turn on both of the driver select switch L.E.D.s.

The system will continue to default to zero speed damping level (Sport mode).

Is PCM code 24 set?

  1. Disconnect the Control Module.
  2. Check CKT 817 by measuring the resistance from the PCM to the Control Module Connector pin C7.

Is the resistance greater than the specified value?

2 ohms

Go to Step 3

Repair the open circuit condition in CKT 817.

Is the repair complete?

Check CKT 817 for a short circuit to ground condition by measuring the resistance between the wiring harness pin C7 and ground.

Is the resistance greater than the specified value?

100 ohms

Go to Step 6

Repair the short circuit to ground condition in CKT 817.

Is the repair complete?

Check for a short to voltage in CKT 817.

Is a short to voltage present?

Is the control module replacement complete?
