Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Drain the engine oil. Refer to
Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement.
- Remove the torque converter cover. Refer to
Torque Converter Cover Replacement in Automatic Transaxle-4T65-E.
Notice: Remove the oil level sensor, located in the oil pan, before the oil
pan is removed. The sensor may be damaged if the oil pan is removed
first.
- Remove the oil level switch. Refer to
Engine Oil Level Indicator Switch Replacement.
- Remove the torque axis mount bracket bolts.
- Remove the oil pan bolts.
- Remove the oil pan.
- Remove the oil pan gasket.
- Clean the oil pan and cylinder block mating surfaces.
Installation Procedure
- Apply a continuous bead 3.0 mm (0.19 in) thick in diameter of RTV GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent on the engine block in the pattern shown above.
- Apply an additional drop of RTV GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent to all four corners of the block where the front and rear covers meet (1).
- Install the oil pan.
- Clean the oil pan bolts.
- Apply one drop of GM P/N 12345382, GM P/N Canada 10953489 to each bolt.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Do not over tighten the oil pan bolts or damage to the pan could occur.
- Install the oil pan bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the oil pan bolts to 14 N·m (124 lb in).
- Install torque axis mount bracket bolts.
- Install the torque converter cover. Refer to
Torque Converter Cover Replacement in Automatic Transaxle-4T65-E..
- Install the oil level switch. Refer to
Engine Oil Level Indicator Switch Replacement.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Refill the engine oil. Refer to
Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement.
