Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  2. Object Number: 420666  Size: SH
  3. Remove the upper radiator seal.
  4. Remove the upper radiator support bar. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement in Body Front End.

  5. Object Number: 420670  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect and plug the coolant overflow hose from the radiator.

  7. Object Number: 430129  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses from the radiator and position out of the way.

  9. Object Number: 420678  Size: SH
  10. Remove the bolt from the transmission oil cooler pipe clip at the lower radiator tie bar.
  11. Remove the cooling fans. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
  12. Unscrew the transmission cooler lines from the radiator and position out of the way.

  13. Object Number: 287612  Size: SH
  14. Remove the condenser mounting bolts.
  15. Separate the condenser from the radiator.
  16. Unplug and remove the low coolant sensor if applicable.
  17. Lift the radiator up and out of the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Important: The bolt retaining the condenser to the radiator end tank is a 15 mm (0.6 in) length and should be the ONLY bolt used upon reinstallation. The use of a longer bolt will damage the radiator end tank.

  1. Install the radiator to the vehicle. Place the bottom of the radiator in the lower pads.
  2. Install the low coolant sensor and connect the electrical connector.
  3. Install the condenser to the radiator.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the condenser mounting bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 13 N·m (10 lb ft).

  7. Install the transmission cooler lines into the transmission cooler in the radiator.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 31 N·m (23 lb ft).

  9. Install the cooling fans. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .

  10. Object Number: 420678  Size: SH
  11. Install the cooler line clip and bolt to the lower tie bar.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  13. Install the upper and lower radiator hoses to the radiator.
  14. Connect the coolant recovery hose to the radiator neck.
  15. Install the upper radiator support bar. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement in Body Front End.

  16. Object Number: 420666  Size: SH
  17. Install the upper radiator seal.
  18. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  19. Inspect for leaks. Refer to Cooling System Leak Testing .
