When the park brake is applied, the park brake switch closes and a low (ground) condition exists at the IPC park brake input. If the ignition switch is in the RUN or START positions, the BRAKE indicator in the instrument cluster illuminates.

If the vehicle is moved a distance of 10 to 50 feet (3.0 to 15.2 meters) with the park brake switch closed, an audible chime sounds.

When the brake fluid level is low, the brake fluid level switch closes and a low (ground) condition exists at the IPC brake fluid level input. If the ignition switch is in the RUN or START positions, the BRAKE indicator in the instrument panel cluster illuminates and an audible chime sounds.

Certain ABS faults also illuminate the BRAKE indicator along with the ABS indicator through the class 2 communication link. When this occurs it is accompanied by an audible chime.

When the igniton switch is turned to RUN, a five to seven second bulb check is performed by the IPC.
