Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the power steering gear heat shield.
  3. Support the transaxle.
  4. Remove the transaxle rear mount. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement .
  5. Position a drain pan under the forward servo cover.

  6. Object Number: 164777  Size: SH
  7. Remove the bolts and/or screws attaching the servo cover to the transaxle case.
  8. Remove the forward servo cover.
  9. Remove the forward servo cover O-ring.
  10. Remove the servo piston assembly.
  11. Remove the servo spring.
  12. For disassembly and inspection, refer to Transmission Unit Repair Manual (TURM).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 164777  Size: SH
  1. Install the servo spring.
  2. Install the servo piston assembly.
  3. Install the forward servo cover O-ring.
  4. Install the forward servo cover.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the forward servo cover attaching bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the forward servo cover attaching bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  8. Remove the drain pan from under the forward servo cover.
  9. Install the transaxle rear mount. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement .
  10. Install the power steering gear heat shield.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Important: It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.

    Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, The ECM, PCM or TCM will need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.

  13. Reset the TAP values. Refer to Adapt Function .
