Did you perform the HVAC Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Use the heater and A/C control to adjust the mode from FRONT defrost to MAX A/C.

Does the HTR/DEF/AC actuator cam rotate with each mode selection?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, command the HTR/DEF/AC door position from Defrost to Panel.

Does the HTR/DEF/AC actuator cam rotate with each command?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the HTR/DEF/AC actuator.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Measure the voltage from the supply circuit of the HTR/DEF/AC actuator to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specific value?

12 V

Measure the voltage from the supply circuit of the HTR/DEF/AC actuator to the motor return circuit of the HTR/DEF/AC actuator.

  1. Measure the voltage from the motor drive circuit of the HTR/DEF/AC actuator to the motor return circuit of the HTR/DEF/AC actuator.
  2. With a scan tool, command the HTR/DEF/AC door position from Defrost to Panel.

Does the voltage change?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Test the supply circuit of the HTR/DEF/AC actuator for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Test the motor return circuit of the HTR/DEF/AC actuator for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Test the motor drive circuit of the HTR/DEF/AC actuator for an open, a short to ground or a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the HTR/DEF/AC actuator harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect the HTR/DEF/AC actuator, linkage and mode doors for binding or mechanical failure.
